In the financial year 2021, the online fantasy sports sector of India’s online gaming market was valued at more than 20 billion Indian rupees. The online fantasy sports market size is further believed to exceed 50 billion Indian rupees by the financial year 2025. The top fantasy sports brands across the globe are Draft kings, Fanduel, NFL, Dream11, Twelfth Man to name a few. Anyone who wishes to play fantasy football must form a team of eleven or fifteen members. This squad will represent you every week during a particular season and will score points. 

What’s Driving The Fantasy Sports Engine?

The penetration of internet connectivity, smartphones, and advanced technology etc. in online gaming could be the driving force for the global fantasy sports market. The market is also driven by the launch of various fantasy sports applications. Just recently, ECAL, a leading global calendar marketing brand partnered with Dream11. This partnership will help ECAL as well as Dream11 to boost their respective presence in the Indian market. Dream11 already has a significant population hooked on to it. This will lead to a great rise in the number of users. A survey conducted by Nielson in 2018 states that 45% of India’s urban population is interested in football. 

Another collaboration on the lines of this was when sports platform Twelfth Man roped in footballer Sunil Chhetri to grow the culture of football in the country. 

Platforms like these are giving a new spin to games like football. Technology has become an intricate part of human life. The growing investments in the gaming sector has fostered the growth of fantasy sports not only in India but globally as well. Fantasy football is the next big thing and it is here to stay!
