Chennai Super Kings batted first, and Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway opened brilliantly for CSK, making 79 runs and 87 runs, respectively. Gaikwad ended up scoring 79 runs in 50 balls at a strike rate of 158 to help CSK set a huge target of 224 for the Delhi Capitals. The pressure of such a high target got to DC, and while Warner put in a very good performance, scoring 86 runs, the Chennai Super Kings managed to restrict Delhi Capitals to just 146 runs, and CSK won the game by a huge margin of 77 runs.
Another brilliant performance was put in by Ruturaj Gaikwad in the game between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians on 19th September 2021. CSK batted first, and while the entire team struggled to get going, Ruturaj Gaikwad ended up scoring 92 runs in 50 balls at a strike rate of 184 to help CSK set a target of 179 for the Gujarat Titans to chase down. However, the Gujarat Titans managed to chase this down thanks to efforts from multiple players. Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 98 runs in 54 balls at a strike rate of 181.5 to help CSK set a huge target of 213 for the SRH to try and chase down. This turned out to be too formidable a score for SRH, and CSK managed to bowl them out for just 134 and won the game by a margin of 78 runs.
Ruturaj Gaikwad played an absolute blinder in the Indian Premier League on 1st May 2022 in a game between the Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad. CSK batted first, and their openers, Gaikwad and Devin Conway formed an amazing partnership. However, Gaikwad narrowly missed out on a century and lost his wicket, having scored 99 runs in 57 balls at a strike rate of 173.7. His performances helped CSK set a target of 203 for SRH to try and chase down. The Sunrisers Hyderabad tried valiantly to chase it down but only managed to make 189 runs in 20 overs, and CSK ended up winning the game by a margin of 13 runs.
