Pratika Rawal, the daughter of a BCCI umpire, made her international debut on 22nd December 2024 against West Indies. The opener has had a phenomenal start to life and has been the centre of attention around Indian cricket recently. Pratika Rawal has played six matches for the Indian Women’s cricket team since her debut on 22nd December 2024. In fact, she has managed to score half-centuries in four of these six games, which is quite an impressive feat. She scored 40(69), 76(86), and 18(23) against the Indian Women’s cricket team and scored 89(96), 67(61), and 154(129) against the Ireland Women’s cricket team. Her best performance till now came against Ireland on 15th January 2024, where he managed to score 154 runs in 129 balls at a strike rate of 119.38 to help guide India to a total of 435 runs, the fourth-highest total in Women’s ODI history.

Rawal was born in Delhi on 1st September 2000 and showed interest in cricket from a very young age. Her father, Pradeep Rawal, is a BCCI-certified Level-II umpire of the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA), and it is possible it is through him that her interest in the sport was first piqued. She completed her schooling at Modern School at Barakhamba Road in New Delhi and currently plays for Railways in her domestic cricket career. Apart from cricket, Rawal also played basketball for Bal Bharati School in Rajender Nagar, winning a gold medal at the 64th School National Games in Delhi in January 2019.

The talented Indian star spent her youth training at Rohtak Road Gymkhana Cricket Academy under the tutelage of cricket coach Shravan Kumar. She has taken the media by storm with her recent performances for the Indian Women’s cricket team, and the hype around the opener is just increasing by the day. It will be interesting to see just how long she can keep performing like this and entertaining the Indian crowd. Fans are interested to see how she progresses not only in her international career but also in how her future in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) will look after she goes unsold in the 2025 WPL auction.
