The Indian Women’s team had one of the best showings in a One Day International (ODI) game when they faced Ireland on 15th January 2025. They batted first, and both the openers went absolutely crazy. Smriti Mandhana, the Women’s team captain, smashed 135 runs in just 80 balls at a strike rate of 168.75. This helped the team get a fantastic start to their innings. While Mandhana was striking aggressively, India’s rising star, Pratika Rawal, decided to play slower but had an incredible game herself, too.

Rawal stayed at the cease long after Smriti Mandhana lost her wicket and managed to form a partnership with not only Mandhana but also Richa Ghosh. Pratika Rawal ended up making 154 runs in 129 balls at a strike rate of 119.38 and finished her inning as India’s top run scorer in the third ODI against Ireland. Her innings included 20 fours and one six as she displayed unbelievable grit and skill to stay at the crease for so long and put in the best performance of her career to help India reach an incredibly high score.
End of a fabulous knock! 🏏💯

While Richa Ghosh’s contribution was not on the lines of that of Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal, she did a very good job helping India keep up the intensity after they lost Mandhana’s wicket. Ghosh smashed 59 runs in just 42 balls at a strike rate of 140.48 to keep the momentum going. Tejal Hasabnis, Harleen Deol, Jemimah Rodrigues, and Deepti Sharma also contributed a little to help the Women’s cricket team reach a total of 435 in 50 overs.
This is the fourth-highest ODI score recorded in Women’s cricket and the highest in India Women’s history. Their highest score before today was 370, which is something they managed to score against Ireland in their very last game. The Women’s teams highest ODI score before this series was 358, which also came against Ireland back in May 2017. India making 435 against Ireland means that only one team, i.e., New Zealand Women’s cricket team, has managed to score a higher total than them in One Day Internationals (Three times, 440/3 against Ireland, 455/5 against Pakistan, and 491/4 against Ireland).
