This makes his goals-per-game ratio 0.27, which is not very impressive, but being one of his country’s top scorers despite being a midfielder is an achievement in itself.

10. Vivian Woodward – 29 Goals

Vivian Woodward played for the England football team from 1903 to 1911. He played as a forward, representing big teams like Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea. Woodward made a total of 23 appearances for his country, scoring 29 goals in the process, which makes his goals-per-game ratio 1.26, the highest of anyone on this list.

7. Sir Tom Finney – 30 Goals

Tom Finney represented the English football team from 1946 to 1958. He scored 30 goals for England and did so in 76 appearances, with a goals-per-game ratio of 0.39. The majority of his club career came while representing the English football team Preston North End. He made 473 appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring 210 goals for them in the process.
