The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 will take place from 1st June to 29th June 2024. The hosts for this tournament are both the United States of America and the West Indies. There are a total of 20 participants in the 2024 T20 World Cup, more than ever before. ICC aims to include more countries and expand the reach of cricket across the globe, which is why it has let the United States of America co-host the tournament and allowed 20 teams to participate. This article talks about the T20 World Cup groups and which countries are likely to qualify for the Super Eight.

India is one of the favourites to win the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. After their heartbreak in the 2023 ODI Cricket World Cup final, where they lost to Australia, India will be even more determined to clinch this World Cup. While they will face some serious competition on their way to lifting the trophy, they will most definitely make it out of the group stages and into the Super Eight.
Pakistan and India ended up in the same group, meaning fireworks in the group stages. While we predict India will finish on top of the group, we think their archrival, Pakistan, will also make it to the Super Eight. They will be able to finish above Canada, Ireland, and the United States of America to finish second and qualify for the Super Eight.
Australia is one of if not the favourites to win the 2024 T20 World Cup. Australia has already shown the clutch mentality they have, beating India at home in the 2024 ODI World Cup. Their players seem to somehow become better when they are participating in the World Cup. Players like Travis Head, Marcus Stoinis, and Pat Cummins have also been in amazing form in this year’s IPL, and if they can keep up this form, they will almost surely go on to win the World Cup. One thing is for sure, they will qualify for the Super Eight and will mostly do so after finishing on top of their group.
England is the second team who will qualify for the Super Eight stages of the T20 World Cup from Group B. The participants in Group B apart from Australia and England are Namibia, Oman, and Scotland. England and Australia have a relatively easy group and it will surely be the two of them who finish at the top two spots in Group B and qualify for the Super Eight.
New Zealand have been placed in Group C alongside Afghanistan, West Indies, Papua New Guinea, and Uganda. While they have tough teams like Afghanistan and West Indies in their group, we believe they will be able to rise above the trouble and finish in the top spot of Group C.
We predict that the fight between Afghanistan and West Indies for the second spot in Group C will be a good one. West Indies vs Afghanistan is the last group stage match before the Super Eight starts. This will be an extremely entertaining match to watch. We have given the edge to West Indies considering they will be playing this game at their home and are therefore more likely to win and qualify for the Super Eight.
Group D is the toughest group out of all of them and has been nicknamed the ‘Group of Death’. Bangladesh, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and the Netherlands have been placed in the same group. South Africa has a very impressive squad, including stars like Quinton de Kock, Heinrich Klaasen, Tristan Stubbs, and Kagiso Rabada. We predict that the dominant South Africa will manage to finish at the top of Group D.
The second team we are backing to make it into the Super Eight from Group D is Sri Lanka. They have a very dangerous bowling attack of Nuwan Thushara, Matheesha Pathirana, Wanindu Hasaranga, Dilshan Madhushanka, and Maheesh Theekshana. It will be very tough to face such a bowling lineup, and they will surely end up qualifying for the Super Eight.
