LPL 2023 Auction: List Of Unsold Players In The Lanka Premier League: The date for the auction of the Lanka Premier League 2023 has been officially announced by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC). The T20 competition has garnered interest from more than 500 players who have already signed up to join. The auction is set to take place on 14th June 2023.
The fourth edition of the upcoming T20 league is scheduled to take place from 31st July to 22nd August 2023. This league will feature five teams: the Colombo Strikers, Dambulla Aura, Jaffna Kings, Kandy Falcons, and Galle Gladiators.
Prior to the auction, certain well-known players, such as Babar Azam and Shakib al-Hasan, had already been signed for a three-year term. Each of the five franchises participating in the auction will have a spending budget of $500,000 (₹4+Crore).
At the conclusion of the season, franchise owners will have the option to retain or release players through mutual consent. Furthermore, a specific time frame will be allocated for franchises to engage in player trading activities, although the LPL has yet to finalize the specifics of this process.
Suresh Raina, a seasoned cricketer from India and a former player of the Chennai Super Kings, has reportedly registered for the 2023 auction of the Lanka Premier League (LPL). He has shown keen interest in participating in the tournament, which is scheduled from 30th July to 20th August 2023, and has set a starting bid of USD 50,000 (₹41+ Lakh).
Although he declared his retirement from cricket in September 2022, Raina still participated in the Abu Dhabi T10 2023 tournament and provided commentary for the Indian Premier League 2023 season. With his extensive background in franchise cricket, it is anticipated that the left-handed middle-order batsman will receive strong bids during the upcoming LPL 2023 auction.
In order to participate in foreign leagues, a player must declare their retirement from all forms of Indian cricket as per the regulations set by the BCCI.
The LPL 2023 auction will be governed by a comprehensive set of rules similar to those used in the IPL auction. The players who register for the auction will be divided into two groups: capped and uncapped players.
The base price of capped players will range from $10,000 (₹8+Lakh) to $50,000 (₹41+Lakh) in increments of $10,000. Uncapped players will be split into three price ranges depending on their experience. Those with 50 or more first-class matches can register for a base price of $20,000 (₹16+Lakh), while players with a minimum of 25 first-class matches or 18 T20 franchise league matches can also register.
Dilshan Madushanka, a young Sri Lankan left-arm pacer, was the most expensive player at the recent Lanka Premier League (LPL) auction. He was bought by Jaffna Kings for a record fee of $92,000, more than four times his base price of $20,000.
Madushanka’s high price tag is a reflection of his recent form. He has taken 12 wickets in T20I cricket and nine wickets in ODIs, and he is considered to be one of the most promising young bowlers in Sri Lanka.
The bidding war between Jaffna Kings and Galle Titans for Madushanka’s services is a sign of his potential. Both teams are looking to build strong squads for the upcoming LPL season, and they were both willing to pay a premium for Madushanka’s services.
It will be interesting to see how Madushanka performs in the LPL. He has the potential to be a real star in the tournament, and he will be hoping to make a big impact for Jaffna Kings.
Charith Asalanka, another Sri Lankan player, was able to secure a significant amount of money during the auction. The Jaffna Kings, who are the defending champions, acquired the hard-hitting left-hander for $80,000. As a result of this purchase, Asalanka became the most expensive batter at the auction. His addition to the team makes the Jaffna Kings one of the most formidable batting sides, as they now have players like David Miller, Shoaib Malik, Chris Lynn, and Rahmanullah Gurbaz in their roster.
Dhananjaya de Silva and Binura Fernando were the joint-third most expensive players at the Lanka Premier League (LPL) auction on Wednesday.De Silva, a well-known Sri Lankan all-rounder, was sold to Dambulla Aura for $76,000. He was the first player to be sold at the auction.
Fernando, a tall left-arm pacer, was also sold to Dambulla Aura for the same price. He is known for his ability to hit the deck hard and bowl a great yorker. The high prices paid for de Silva and Fernando are a reflection of their talent and potential. Both players are expected to play a key role for Dambulla Aura in the upcoming LPL season.
