The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is rumoured to sign a massive deal with Adidas to be the new apparel sponsor for the Indian cricket team. According to various reports, the sporting goods giant is very keen to be the new sponsor of the Men in Blue. It is speculated that the Germany-based brand could most likely come on board as early as 1st June 2023.
If these rumoured are to be believed, then we could well so Rohit Sharma & Co don an Adidas-made jersey if the Men in Blue manage to qualify for the highly awaited World Test Championship Final. The upcoming ICC event has been scheduled to take place on 7th June in Kennington Oval, London. The Indian cricket team, who is taking on Australia in the Border Gavaskar Trophy, is highly likely to make it to the World Test Championship Final for the second time in a row.
Killer Jeans is currently the jersey sponsor of the Indian cricket team since taking over from MPL Sports in 2023. However, the BCCI is said to be on the lookout for tying up with a renowned brand. They are expected to bring a company on board that has already made a name for itself in the sports industry.
Nike was the previous last major sportswear brand that sponsored the Indian cricket team between 2016 and 2020. Since Nike, MPL (Mobile Premier League) Sports took over from Nike by paying ₹370 Crore to be India’s new jersey sponsor. Despite their deal running till December 2023, MPL ended up handing over the rights to Killer Jeans.

Killer Jeans does not hold a background in sporting goods which sees them not being a good fit for Indian cricket and the brand image of BCCI. Citing it as a key problem, the Indian cricket board was on the lookout for roping in a major sportswear brand.
It is also worth noting that most of the Indian cricket team players are sponsored by big name, which includes Nike, Adidas and Puma, with such brands getting value for money after joining hands with sports personalities citing such associations.
Various India cricket team stars like Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant and Kuldeep Yadav are currently sponsored by Adidas. The brand is all set to reenter sponsoring the national cricket team, with their previous association being England. Currently, they sponsor South East Stars, Surrey, and Nottinghamshire, and the Indian cricket team would be the 4th side Adidas will sponsor if their deal with BCCI goes through.
