Brett Lee Questions’ Omission of THIS Indian Star in T20 World Cup

Former Australia speedster Brett Lee has not shied away from expressing his disappointment at the team selection by India ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup. The Aussie international has gone on to question the omission of Cameron Green in Australia’s T20 World Cup squad as well as Umran Malik with the Indian speedster missing out on the Men in Blue squad for the upcoming ICC event.

Brett Lee has been in India and was seen playing for Australia Legends in the Road Safety World Series 2022. He has gone on to raise questions on the All-India Selection committee’ decision of not selecting the Jammu & Kashmir pacer. He adds how the young pacer could have taken advantage of the pace and bounce on the Australian conditions and done a lot of damage to India’s opposition.

The SRH speedster rose to fame after his performance in the Indian Premier League (IPL) which also led to an India debut in 2022. However, the 22-year-old proved to be very expensive in all the games he played against Ireland and England. Despite failing to start off his international career on a positive note, Umran Malik has displayed a lot of raw pace and talent.

Brett Lee comments on Umran Malik

Citing his ability to deliver balls at a raw pace and at speeds in excess of 150 kmph on a consistent basis Brett Lee wanted him to make it in the Indian squad for ICC T20 World Cup. He was quoted saying, “I would love to see Umran Malik unleashed in Australia, yes. So, to me the big surprises of his T20 World Cup – Umran Malik for India, I think he should play.”

The 45 year old also went on to share how having bowlers who can extract extra bounce will prove to be vital in Australia while emphasizing on the importance of pacers in the conditions.  He said, “Pace and bounce are crucial but if you are bowling pace at the death and if you are going to bowl length, you are going to be taken down.”

“So, pace up front is good, and pace at the back is good too but it also depends on how well you deliver and execute your plans. So the extra bounce is more so for the batsman, how the batsman handles the extra bit of bounce because the sub-continent batters aren’t used to that pace and bounce,” Brett Lee added.
