Arshdeep Singh made a comeback into the Indian national team after being rested for the recently concluded T20I series against Australia. Questions were raised if he can perform well after getting a lot of criticism for his antics in Aisa Cup 2022. However, the emerging pace sensation shined for the Men in Blue after walking back into the playing XI against South Africa.
He ripped the visitors apart with some sensational bowling performance, claiming three wickets in the first over to hand India a dream start to the game. Deepak Chahar dismissed Temba Bavuma in the first over before Arshdeep Singh got rid of Quinton de Kock, Rilee Rossouw, and David Miller in the next over. He also took a fantastic catch in the deep to send Tristan Stubbs back in the hut.
After the game, the 24-year-old pacer spoke on his performance against South Africa. He said, “The feeling is good and everyone is happy at home. As a youngster you prepare to play for your country and the World Cup is the biggest stage, so getting that opportunity I am very happy. We as players need to be adaptable and be ready for any demands from the team, the same motivation remains with me, I am ready to bowl wherever the team needs me.”

There needs to be clarity in your role, the captain and management have given me that and I practice accordingly. If you have match kinda situations in practice and are able to execute your plans then you’d do well in the game.”
The Punjab Kings speedster has been a constant feature for India in the shortest format of the game since making his debut. He is expected to continue shining for India, who experimented with various fast bowling combinations in the recent past. Rohit Sharma will be a happy man to have an option like Arshdeep Singh in the ranks available to choose form especially with the ICC T20 World Cup just round the corner.
the left arm speedster has expressed his desire of playing in his maiden World Cup and it remains to be seen if he makes the cut to feature in next month’s highly anticipated ICC mega event in Australia. He has fared well in the absence of pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah, who once again missed the SA clash after complaining of back pain. It remains interesting to see if the what the Indian think tank has in mind for Arshdeep Singh.
