Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag has gone on to name the potential winner of Asia Cup 2022. The ex-cricketer made a bold prediction with his choice surprising many team fans. Rohit Sharma-led Indian side is all set to take on Sri Lanka in their upcoming Asia Cup 2022 match. The Super 4 clash comes after the Men in Blue lost their previous game to archrivals Pakistan. The five-wicket loss to Men in Green comes after they won their first two games in the group stages of Asia Cup 2022.
After India’s narrow loss to Pakistan in their Super 4 match, Virender Sehwag shared his thoughts on the potential Asia Cup winner. Speaking with Cricbuzz, the former opener claimed how the Indian team must go on to win every upcoming match. He also made a jaw dropping prediction stating that Pakistan might go on to win the ongoing 6 nation tournament this time around.
Virender Sehwag said, “If India loses another match, they would be eliminated from the tournament. Pakistan has the opportunity. If they lose one match and win another, their net run rate will propel them to the final because they have only lost one match and won two.”

“India has already lost one match, and if they lose another, they would be eliminated. As a result, India is under pressure. Pakistan will play in the final for the first time in a long time, and they also defeated India in the Asia Cup for the first time in a long time. This could also be Pakistan’s year,” Virender Sehwag added.
The Men in Green’s last appearance in the Asia Cup final came in 2014 when they suffered a five-wicket loss to Sri Lanka. Babar Azam’s men are likely to make it to the final this time around with the team amongst the favorites to claim the Asia Cup title this month.
Pakistan have won the continental competition twice in their history with the victories coming in 2000 and 2012. They are the third most successful side in the Asia Cup final with 2 titles against their name. Sri Lanka has won the tournament 5 times with India leading the list due to their 7 title triumphs.
