Former West Indies opening batsman Chris Gayle has been confirmed as one of the former players who will participate in the second season of Legends League Cricket. The 42-year-old has a ton of records in the shortest format of the game from highest number of runs to most hundreds as well as most fours and sixes in the format to name a few.
The swashbuckling opener also has 15 Test hundreds against his name and is often seen playing for various T20 franchises across the world. Chris Gayle dons the jersey number 333, his highest First-Class score on the back and is also the 4th ever batsmen in world cricket to have scored two triple centuries in Test cricket.
Chris Gayle shared an official statement upon his participation in the Legends League Cricket. He said, “It gives me immense pleasure and excitement to be part of this prestigious league and to play with the iconic legends of the game.” India, see you at the venues. “
The CEO and Co-Founder of Legends League Cricket, Raman Raheja, also spoke about Chris Gayle’s inclusion in the tournament. He said, “With Chris Gayle on board, LLC has become bolder and bigger. I am sure fans and viewers must be expecting more firepower on the field to get entertained with the clash of iconic legends of cricket.”

Apart from Gayle, the current president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, Sourav Ganguly, is also set to play a special match in the tournament. The former India captain is set to turn back time and walk out on the cricket pitch, giving fans an opportunity to see him in action once again. The 50 year old took to Instagram earlier and announced his participation for a special match during the tournament.
Speaking about Ganguly, Raman Raheja, said, “We thank legendary Sourav Ganguly for playing a match with other legends. Once a legend, always a legend, Dada is always there for Cricket. And he will play a special social cause match, which is going to be a spectacular view for our audience. We hope to see some iconic dada shots.”
Matches of the Legends League Cricket are set to be played in six Indian towns. Delhi, Kolkata, Jodhpur, Rajkot, Cuttack, and Lucknow will host all the games with the 15 games of the tournament set to be played between September 17 to October 8, 2022.
