Indian team captain Rohit Sharma was announced as “retired hurt” during the Men in Blues’ batting in the second innings of the third T20I against the West Indies. He walked off the field within the first two overs of the innings and saw that sight created some fear amongst the Indian cricket team fans.
The 35-year-old was batting on 11 off 5 deliveries in the second innings. He looked to be in good touch hitting Alzarri Joseph for a six and following it up with a four in the second over of their Indian innings. However, Sharma started to look uncomfortable after those 2 shots and suggested that he had pulled up his hamstring.
Kamalesh Jain, the Indian physio, rushed onto the pitch to assist Rohit Sharma and assess the Indian team captains’ situation quickly. The duo was involved in a lengthy conversation and after consultation with the physio, Rohit Sharma decided to walk off the pitch while Shreyas Iyer replaced him on the ground.

He went on to add that the team had a significant day of rest until the next T20I and he is hopeful of coming back fitter before the next game. He was quoted saying, “At the moment, it’s okay. We’ve got a few days till the next game, hopefully, it should be okay.”
The Men in Blue end their white ball series against West Indies in the USA with the last two T20Is set to be played in Florida on 6th and 7th August. India will head into the final 2 games having taken a 2-1 lead in the five-match T20I series following their 7 wicket win in the third T20I.
