Australian star Will Pucovski will attend a 10-day training camp in Chennai as he prepares to travel to India. The young batter is named by Cricket Australia amongst a group of eight players who will visit the subcontinent next month.
The eight-member squad selected by Cricket Australia consists of emerging batters and spinners that will be training at the MRF Pace Foundation. Australia’s cricket board has solid ties with the MRF Pace Foundation which has allowed them to send a small contingent of players for a training camp. The 10-day training camp is expected to kickstart on August 7 in Chennai with the last day of the camp set to be on August 17.
ESPNcricinfo has stated that eight Australian players will meet up with local Indian players and be a part of joint training sessions. Pucovski and co are also rumored to play a one-day match while also featuring in a two-day clash during the 10-day camp.

Former Sri Lanka batsmen Thilan Samarveera was a part of the Australia A coaching staff that toured the islandic nation in June- July 2022. He has been named as the coach of the group including Pucovski with 7 other stars and will be accompanied by Glenn McGrath. The former Australian pacer has been associated with the MRF Academy having worked there as a consultant and will also be a member the coaching group.
Australia selector Tony Dodemaide has been named as the tour manager for camp. He is quoted by ESPNcricinfo saying, “It is exciting to renew the partnership with the MRF Academy and provide this group of young players with a truly unique experience. Some players have toured the subcontinent in the past so this trip will further refine their skills while others will gain valuable new experience in these testing conditions.”
Pucovski will be joined by Matthew Kunhemann and Josh Philippe with Australia A players in Henry Hunt, Tanveer Sangha and Todd Murphy also called up for the camp in Chennai. Members of the Australian U19 team that recently featured in the U19 World Cup, Cooper Connolly and Teague Wyllie, are also named to be a part of the trip to the sub-continent.
The exchange between the MRF Pace Foundation and Cricket Australia has seen Left-arm fast bowlers Chetan Sakariya and Mukesh Choudhary travel to Brisbane. The Indian fast bowlers are set to train at the Bupa National Cricket Centre. They will also join the Queensland Bulls pre-season training and take part in Queensland Cricket’s inaugural KFC T20 Max competition.
