Does Poonam Yadav join the WBBL team Brisbane Heat: Spinner Poonam Yadav has signed up with Brisbane Heat for the upcoming season, making her the eighth Indian cricketer to feature in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL).
The 30-year-old India leg-spinner will replace New Zealand’s Emilia Kerr in Brisbane’s squad. Kerr decided to pull out of the Big Bash last month due to mental health issues.
Poonam is currently on the Australian tour with the Indian team. She played in two matches of the three-ODI series against Australia but was not included in the playing XI for the day-night Test.
She is the eighth Indian player to join the WBBL team for the upcoming season. Other Indian players who will play in this T20 league are Shafali Verma, Radha Yadav (both Sixers), Smriti Mandhana, Deepti Sharma (both Thunder), Richa Ghosh (Hurricanes), Jemima Rodrigues and Harmanpreet Kaur (both Renegades).
