Wendell Lira scored an outstanding bicycle kick to bag the 2015 Puskas Award. In a game between Goianesia and Atletico Goianiense, Lira stepped up for Goianesia in the 28th minute and scored an absolutely marvellous goal. His teammate lobbed the ball over the opposition’s defence. It looked like it would be tough for Lira to control the ball, and so he decided to attempt the spectacular. He turned 180 degrees in the air and kicked the ball with his right leg, pushing the ball past the keeper. This goal won him the 2015 Puskas Award.
Mohd Faiz Subri scored one of the best free kicks in a game between Penang and Pahang in the Malaysia Super League on 16th February 2016. In the 62nd minute of the game, Mohd Faiz Subri took the responsibility of taking the free kick. Given the distance from the goal, the entire world expected him to cross the ball into the box.
However, Subri had other ideas. He sliced the ball at full power, and the result was marvellous. The keeper tried following the ball, but it curled to the right at the end, nestling in the top corner and catching the keeper out. This unbelievable strike was awarded the 2016 Puskas Award.

Olivier Giroud won the Puskas Award for his goal against Crystal Palace in the Premier League on 1st January 2017. Lucas Perez intercepted a pass in Arsenal’s territory, leading to a very fast-paced and fluid Arsenal counter. Quick passing amongst teammates saw the ball reach Crystal Palace’s territory in no time.
Alexis Sanchez crossed the ball into the box from the left flank, but it looked like the pass was behind Giroud, and the chance had gone. However, Giroud decided to improvise and attempted a scorpion kick with his left leg, kicking the ball from behind his back. This helped Arsenal finish one of the smoothest counterattacks and won Giroud the 2016 Puskas Award.

Son Heung-min’s goal against Burnley on 7th December 2019 was simply individual brilliance. Son received the ball just outside his own team’s box. Burnley had sent many players to attack and appeared a little thin at the back. Son thought this would be the perfect opportunity to hit them with a counterattack and set off with a mind-blowing pace.
He simply kept running, dodging flying tackles and fitting through gaps, until he ran the full length of the pitch and found himself face-to-face with Burnley’s keeper. Son composed himself and managed to get the ball past the keeper to complete one of the best individual goals in Premier League history. This goal was awarded the 2020 Puskas Award.

Martin Oleksy scored one of the best goals ever seen in a game between Warta Poznan and Stal Rzeszow on 6th November 2022. This was a game between handicapped footballers. Think about how hard it is to score with a scissors kick. Now imagine attempting a scissors kick, which is playing with crutches and one leg. It seems impossible, but this is exactly what Marcin Oleksy managed to pull off to win the 2022 Puskas Award. He jumped in the air after balancing on his foot, timed the kick perfectly and connected mid-air to score.
Guilherme Madruga scored one of the best bicycle kicks on 27th June 2023 in a game between Novorizontino and Botafogo FC. In the 37th minute, Madruga attempted a ridiculous shot. He decided to go for a bicycle from outside the box. It seemed very improbable that he would score with this kick, but that is exactly what happened. The ball moved towards the goal and dipped at the perfect time, going in between the crossbar and the keeper’s outstretched hand. Madruga was awarded the 2023 Puskas Award for this ridiculous goal.
