Facebook Partners With Ubisoft To Expand Cloud Gaming Service

Recently Facebook Inc. revealed that its cloud gaming service is available to 98% people in the United States. It aims at covering 100% of the population by this fall. The company also reported that over 1.5 million active users play on their cloud gaming service every month. After completing its US rollout, the brand is aiming at expanding its service globally.

Facebook announced its partnership with French videogame company Ubisoft Entertainment for further expansion. Ubisoft has famous video games such as ‘Assassin’s Creed,’ ‘Prince of Persia,’ ‘Far Cry,’ ‘Watch Dogs,’ ‘Just Dance’ and ‘Tom Clancy’ among others.

“We’ve now scaled our infrastructure significantly, and we’re announcing coverage to over 98% of people in the mainland United States. We’re on track to hit 100 per cent by fall of this year,” said Jason Rubin, VP, Play at Facebook.

The American multinational conglomerate’s gaming service currently offers more than 25 game titles including ‘Roller Coaster Tycoon Touch’ by Atari, along with ‘Lego Legacy Heroes Unboxed’ and ‘Dragon Mania Legends’ by Gameloft. After a 100% penetration in the US, the company plans to expand its gaming service initially to Canada and Mexico before touching on Western and Central Europe by early 2022.

The partnership will help Facebook inject Ubisoft’s gaming content into its own cloud games and expand the number of games on its cloud. Ubisoft’s popular mobile games like Hungry Shark Evolution and Hungry Dragon, along with its classic game Assassin’s Creed Rebellion will be available on Facebook gaming. In the coming months, the company will also get Ubisoft’s Mighty Quest and Trials Frontier on board.

The California-based company had initially rolled out a beta version of its cloud gaming service in October last year. Shortly after, it officially launched its cloud gaming service in the same month with a number of games on offer.

These games were made available on the app as well as on the browser for Android users only. The company said its cloud gaming service on iOS was uncertain, however, the firm managed to launch the service on iOS later.
