Ramesh Rao Thotapalli or RRT (lovingly known by his peers) dropped a huge bomb on the poker community when he announced the launch of his first poker/real money gaming app called Cards52.com. As a hardcore poker lover and real money gaming afficionado, Thotapalli has seen, heard, and experienced everything there is to know about the RMG industry and the launch of his gaming app only solidifies that he’s here to bring more to the table.
RRT along with co-founder and COO, Harsh Raj announced the entry of Cards52 into the real money gaming space and many are already curious to know what Cards52 has in store for players.
So, we quickly approached RRT for an interview with the Visakhapatnam-born poker enthusiast and asked him some burning questions based on his dream project. Excited to talk about his latest endeavour, here’s what Thotapalli has to say.
1. Where did the idea to launch your own real money gaming app come from?
I have been a part of this industry since 2008 and have seen the start of the biggest poker sites in the industry today. For a long time, it has always been a dream of mine to have a site of my own and after seeing everything that has happened throughout the RMG industry, I thought that we could bring some change and do things differently. While I always wanted to have a real money gaming app, I wanted to enter at a time I thought was most suited, so here we are today.
2. What are you most excited about in this new endeavour?
For Cards52, we wanted to take a path that not many sites have taken and do things a bit differently than the rest. You can expect some out of the box ideas that offer players great value on the site. We’ll be launching our marketing promotions very soon, so everyone will get a fair idea of what we are up to.
3. What can people expect from Cards52?
People can expect a lot from Cards52 because essentially this app is by the players, and for the players. There will be a lot of value when it comes to cash games, tournaments, or deals that we will be giving out. We are trying to do something that has not been done in the industry before and as we are a new site, just expect many things to be different.
4. How is Cards52 different from other poker or RMG gaming apps?
Card52 has been born or ideated out of the learnings that we have taken from the industry. Every poker website is doing something well while lacking in some areas, at Cards52 we’re attempting to incorporate all the good features of these poker sites and bring them together in one single site. The Cards52 team have studied the entire market to locate gaps and are actively trying to fill in those gaps in order to add more value to the industry. Essentially, we are here to grow the game together.
5. What was the initial reaction of players and others when you announced the launch?
Everyone was thrilled and many of them had an idea that we were up to something. The response has been overwhelming so far, and everyone is just waiting to see the app up and running. The project was pending for a long time and was delayed for more than a year. But better late than never, and we all-in now.
6. What more can you tell us about the launch date?
The app and the desktop client are in the process of getting ready along with the iOS and Android versions as well. Currently, we are in the testing phase of our app, and we are planning on launching it by the end of the year. We’ll be able to share a little bit more about the launch date in the coming weeks, so stay tuned to our social media handles.
7. Where do you plan to reach with Cards52?
With Cards52, we’re not just looking to reach out to the existing pro and recreational players but also tap into newer audiences. It’s a relatively new industry and there are so many remote areas or cities, where poker has not really reached out to the masses yet. It’s an unexplored territory that Cards52 will be looking to break through. Our aim is to be a household name when it comes to poker.
In the past, Ramesh Rao Thotapalli had undertaken projects like managing Casino Pride’s poker room and even taking over the management for Casa Tito. However, Cards52 certainly holds a special place in his heart and is one project that he’s been looking forward to the most. Keeping this in mind, we’re excited as anyone to see the final product and wish Thotapalli all the best!
