Global Esports Federation Announces The Upcoming #WorldConnected Series 2021


Global Esports Federation (GEF) announced the #worldconnected series 2021 (#wcs21) following the successful inaugural edition that took place in December 2020. The flagship event  #wcs21 will be held on 26 March 2021. Top matches will be streamed live on the GEF’s Twitch channel.

The #wcs21 is a group inspired by Global Esports Federation’s values of equality, fair play, diversity, and remodelling. The GEFcon, an initiative of GEF serves as a platform to engage in a  conversation around esports with a wider community.

In 2020, the inaugural edition of #wcs20 was successfully staged with the involvement and contribution from 75 countries and territories across seven regions across the globe. The event attracted more than 5,000 esports players competing for 11 titles with over 5,30,000 virtual spectators and over 2.2 million on social media.

Kelvin Tan, the director of Esports Global Esports Federation said, “The success of the #wcs20 in December 2020 exhibited the distinct focus of Global Esports Federation and the dedication of the members of the federation to promote a well built and diverse esports community globally.”

He further added, “The #wcs21 is the first of a series of community events to be held throughout 2021. We are eager to see significant involvement from the global community and call out to even more esports players and spectators to join in this worldwide celebration of esports.”

The panel has included athletes, community commission, ethics and membership commission and more for the 2021 series. Altogether, the committee has commissioned more than 120 members to collaborate with. Almost 13 months ago GEF has entered into an agreement with the Olympic Council of Asia, World Taekwondo, Commonwealth Games Federation and Sports Innovation Lab.
