Esports In Educational Curriculum Can Boost Overall Growth Of Students, Suggest Reports

In recent times, esports has gained immense popularity due the accessibility and inclusiveness of gaming, and the opportunity to socialize among other reasons  Several studies are suggesting that the inclusion of esports in school curriculum can help inculcate values of understanding, leadership and excellence in students.

Adding online games in the curriculum can also combine education with leisure and help relieve academic stress. A recent report suggested that a school in eastern China has made it compulsory for students to play online video games. The school also has the related curriculum being taught with video games.

The Union Education Minister of India recently announced an initiative by the name hackathon. It will be organised for higher education institution students through innovation in toy technology and design. Millennials have also acknowledged the addition of online games in the high school curriculum.

Deepak Ojha, founder, TalkEsport, says, “I believe that being the world’s largest youth population, India as a nation can fare tremendously on bringing this much needed reform of amalgamating the subject of esports in our education curriculum, it is not only in line with the growing international need to equip our children with the advancements taking place across the globe but this incentive can go a long way in motivating students to see esports as a potential career, which is increasingly being promoted these days”.

He also added, “Our global growth can subsequently be empowered when we mix education with esports, Indian schools need to incentivise children with something which rejuvenates them amidst long study hours, it can also play a leading role in de-stressing students and providing them with wider vocational opportunities other than studies.”

Inclusion of esports in the curriculum comes with many benefits. As more and more people are engaging in online games and are getting attracted to esports, the awareness and importance  to include esports in education and vocational curriculums will also increase.
