ESPL 2021: Delhi Deputy Chief Minister, Manish Sisodia Unveils Delhi Team

Manish Sisodia, Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, has officially unveiled the esports team for Delhi named ‘Delhi Dukes,’ which will compete in the ongoing Esports Premier League (ESPL) 2021.

Earlier Sisodia had announced his support and commitment towards the esports industry. A closed event was held at the Chief Minister’s office in Delhi, where Vishwalok Nath, Director, ESPL along with Sisodia officially revealed Delhi’s team called Delhi Dukes.

“It’s an honour for us to reveal the team’s name and official jersey by the state’s Deputy Chief Minister Mr Manish Sisodia. Delhi’s fans have now got a chance to stand by the team through their journey and cheer for them, so it is imperative for us to make them feel special.  It’s also a very proud moment for all of us at ESPL to see the logo of the first franchise-based Esports league on the arm. We cannot wait for the final phase of the league where all eight state teams will battle it out to get the crown. I wish the team all the very best,” said Vishwalok Nath, Director of ESPL, who was also present during the launch in a closed event at the Delhi Chief Minister’s Residence.

ESPL is India’s first ever franchise based esports tournament. It’s a two and a half month long tournament, which kick-started on June 16th, 2021. The Free Fire tournament is currently underway and has been receiving immense response. It recently crossed the 1 million registration mark. Currently, it is in its third phase, out of the four planned phases. The event is proving to be one of India’s biggest mobile gaming events.

Nath and Sisodia have green-signaled ESPL finale which is scheduled to take place later this month. ESPL has been making headlines ever since it was announced. The tournament has managed to feature top gaming content creators; it has roped in top international brands like Garena, Infinix Mobile, EsportsXO and Playtonia as its partners along with signing Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff as the face of the tournament.
