DPT April 2022: From The Organisers Lens

Famous American track and field athlete Allyson Felix, once said, “Everyone sees the glory moments, but they don’t see what happens behind the scenes.” While Felix said it in the context of her hard work behind the sport, doesn’t it hold true for any field, any activity? While we talk about the grand conclusion of the Deltin Poker Tournament (DPT) April 2022 and its inspiring winners, let’s not forget that there was a whole team working tirelessly behind the scenes, for days and months together ensuring that everything falls into place. 

One such individual was Pravin Dwarkanath, Poker Head of Deltin. The glorious series, held aboard the Deltin Royale Casino in Goa, was a big hit among the players. But to understand how the series went for the men behind the curtains, we got in touch with Dwarkanath. Here’s what he had to share:

DPT April 2022 was undoubtedly a massively successful event. Tell us as the Poker Head of Deltin, what were your key takeaways from the event?

My biggest takeaway is that if you take efforts to improvise or upgrade player experience then you’ll always have happy players coming back. My main observation is that there is always room to improve and make it more fun and convenient for players. It’s my first biggest event as Poker Head and it’s an event for all players – professional, recreational, upcoming, established  – everyone looks forward to it, so it’s been a learning experience for my team and me too, to understand what each category of the player looks for at an event of this scale.

What do you have to say about the prize pools generated by the individual tournaments?

Every event saw the guarantees being crushed, and DPT saw some record-breaking numbers!

Tell us about the online registration process? What kind of feedback did you receive from the players on the registration process?

We received a lot of appreciation for our new registration process for being time-saving and much easier. As it’s new to everyone including us, we did have some teething issues on Day 1, but we implement feedback and fix whatever was required.

Was the turnout in line with your expected figures? Did the DPT April 2022 edition meet the expectations of the Deltin team?

As much as we were hoping to crush previous DPT numbers, the current situation around us all meant everything was uncertain. But yes, we see the registrations and our team comes in with ten years of combined experience so we had anticipated and were really glad and grateful that it met our expectations.

Can we expect more live poker events at Deltin, this year? If yes, when?

Yes, definitely. We are already in talks about something, when things are finalised, you’ll be the first to know.
