Doddanavar bags 7th place in 2019 APPT Korea HR

2019 APPT Korea festival ran between 5-14 April in Incheon, South Korea. Paradise City Casino, one of the landmarks of the city, was host to the series and saw heavyweights like Malaysia’ Michael Soyza being crowned as champions.

The KRW 4 million High Roller was the last of the events to conclude and what a fitting conclusion it was. Japan’s Keiji Takahashi took home the title and the first-place cash prize of KRW 143,890,000 (~INR 88.19 Lakhs), after a wire-to-wire run on the last day of the event.

India’s Yasheel Doddanavar was also in the mix and finished at a respectable 7th place for KRW 24,295,000 (~INR 14.88 Lakhs). Doddanavar was running impressively throughout the series and apart from the ITM finish here, he also cashed 3rd in the only Short Deck event in the series for ~INR 10.81 Lakhs.

The series was played out on 2 days with a total field of 181 total entries, some signing up to the tournament in the late registration period. The top 27 places were paid. Dong Chen and Huijie Zhou were busted on Day 2 on separate tables and became the bubble boys. During the same time, Takahashi doubled up on the bubble through fellow countryman Kazuhiko Yotsushika.

China’s Yan Li finished 3rd, narrowly missing out on his 3rd title win for the series. The FT also featured Yongwei Mo, WSOP bracelet winner Calvin Lee and Weiyi ‘Wayne’ Zhang.
