Dhruvin Kothari takes major lead on Battlefield Day 1B

Spartan Poker recently launched Battlefield INR 1 Crore GTD, a unique online poker tournament with four starting flights and the ability to take multiple stacks to Day 2, if you play and survive in multiple flights. A couple of nights back, Siddharth Karia ended as chip leader on Day 1A and yesterday was Day 1B of Battlefield, with the same start time of 7:30pm and the same buy-in of INR 5,500.

Yesterday, we witnessed a similar field as that on Day 1A, with 386 entries emerging and these entries had to play a total of 25 levels before play halted for the day. It was 12:05am today morning that play stopped, with only 24 survivors at the end of the day. Add this to 30 from Day 1A, and we now have a combined field of 54 entries ready to play Day 2, with two starting flights remaining.

Bagging a massive chip lead at the end of the day was Dhruvin Kothari aka ‘dhruvinkothari’ who ended with a stack of 410,701 which is way ahead of the next best’s, Srihari Bang aka ‘bangbang99’ who holds 333,375 in chips. Both of them will look to play in Day 1C tonight and increase their chances on Day 2.

Talking about the tournament and his performance last night, Kothari said, “Battlefield seems to be a nice concept whereby you can have multiple entries in the second day. So, it’s something unique and new. My flight was not great as in the early stages you gamble a bit. On my third entry I got a bit lucky and after a few double ups, got a stack of 50k. I could then consolidate my position well and take advantage in later stages with my stack as people were playing to qualify. That way could increase my stack substantially in the last few levels.”

Other known names to survive Day 1B of Battlefield were Sahil Agarwal aka ‘Nasheyy’ (6th), Ashish Ahuja aka ‘Spewushhhiiiii’ (9th), Ashish Munot aka ‘Donkey_07’ (10th), Lakshpal Singh aka ‘LuckyBhai$’ (12th), Mithun Mahesh aka ‘Intuitionnn’ (16th), and Zarvan Tumboli aka ‘BolAuntyAuKya’ (23rd).
