First of its kind, The Virtual Poker League (VPL) is an initiative by the promoters of the renowned Poker Sports League which is the world’s biggest Poker League in terms of prize pool and participation. It was a super exciting and successful event with poker leagues being put on hold ever since the coronavirus lockdown! VPL was aimed at uniting the finest poker players to play for a cause and donate their winnings to charity!
The first edition of the Virtual Poker League ran between 14 – 17 October. Mr. Pranav Bagai, CEO and Co-Founder, Poker Sports League said, “I would like to thank all the players and the Poker community for coming together for this noble cause and helping us take our vision to the next level. We are thrilled with the kind of response that Virtual Poker League has received. ”
Among the six teams, Team Deccan Aces, headed by banker turned poker player Kunal Patni emerged as the winner. They were followed by Chennai Troopers and Delhi Czars as per the leaderboard. The team donated its winning of INR 5 Lakh to ASSCOD. The runner-up Chennai and second runner-up Delhi donated 3 Lakh and 2 Lakh to Super School India and United Way Chennai respectively.
The coveted prize pool of INR 10 Lakh went in for #ALLINFORCHARITY. Celebrating their win at the VPL 2020 and donating the proceeds to the ASSCOD (The Association for Sustainable Community Development) for child education, Kunal Patni, Mentor, Deccan Aces said, “When I first heard about the concept and the thought behind VPL, I knew I had to be a part of this. Our children are the future of this country, and whatever little that we can do to secure their future, we must come forward. I am thankful to the PSL team for giving us an opportunity to come together and use our skills to contribute towards the society.”
Bagai also said, “We are now excited and geared up to bring forth the Season 3 of our flagship Poker Sports League in its new virtual avatar – Poker Sports League – Virtual (PSL V).
