The skill-gaming industry is really taking off in India. Along with it, the number of start-ups and gaming companies in the country have also grown in numbers. The progress seen in many verticals throughout the gaming industry is due to the vast potential that India has as a gaming market.
Early on in the year, Dangal Games, founded by Varun Mahna, Varun Puri, Shashwat Jain, and Manan Sobti, had a ‘Series A’ fundraise worth USD 1 Million. Since its beginnings, the company has been doing extremely well. Their first product ‘PokerDangal’ is currently one of the top poker sites in the country and is still growing. Apart from this, the rummy platform called RummyDangal, owned by Dangal Games has also managed to do well, despite its recent entry into the market.
With a user base of around 5 Lakh and over USD 1 Million in funding, Dangal Games is looking to venture into the world of fantasy sports as well with FantasyDangal. Through this platform, Dangal Games aims to give its users a one-of-a-kind experience. This launch perfectly coincides with the start of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 on 9 April, which will give the platform a boost on its entry.
“FantasyDangal is our first product outside the card game space so we are excited about how it will perform. We will begin with cricket and will add rest of the games in the next quarter. Unlike poker or rummy, fantasy sports caters to a larger audience so there is no dearth of opportunities to create a huge user base despite being an intensely competitive industry,” said Mahna.
Unlike other skill-gaming platforms in the country like poker or rummy, there are no legal barriers with fantasy sports. Ruled as a game of skill by the Supreme Court, fantasy sports have a continued rise in popularity among many sports fans in the country. With cricket being the most popular sport and football following close behind, many fantasy sports startups like Dream11 have experienced tremendous success. Keeping this in mind, there is no doubt that FantasyDangal too will have a roaring head start.
From poker to fantasy sports, the road ahead looks promising for Dangal. The company is well on its way to become one of the top gaming companies in the country. Users, gaming enthusiasts, and fans of the platform can definitely expect the best experience from all Dangal platforms.
