Dan Zack wins WSOP Event #6; Sumir Mathur finishes 2nd

Gold bracelets are being handed out left, right and center at Rio All Suites in Las Vegas, as the 50th anniversary World Series of Poker (WSOP) recently saw another event conclude, and another winner being declared. It was USA’s Dan Zack who walked away a richer man as he ended victorious, grabbing his maiden WSOP bracelet too.

Event #6: $2,500 Limit Mixed Triple Draw was the tournament he ended up winning after 3 days of intense poker. 13 players returned on the final day with three previous bracelet winners in the mix including 2-time winner Mike Gorodinsky. However, all of them were eliminated before the Final Table was formed.

The tournament saw a total of 296 entries and in his poker career so far, Zack has made numerous WSOP cashes and even Final Tables, but had never managed a podium finish. The drought ended here however, as he bagged his first title and $160,447 (~INR 1.11 Crore) for his efforts.

He made a fantastic recovery from being behind right through the event. Talking about this, he said, “This whole tournament I was not above average until I literally came to the Final Table with seven left. It has been ‘yeah, I’m in dead last’. Just over and over again.”

Because of the mixed games format of this tournament, you will always find little or no participation from Indian players. In India, the popular format is NLHE and you might find players trying their hand at PLO every once in a while. In heads-up however, Zack beat Indian-origin American player Sumir Mathur, who won nearly a 6-figure score.

Final Table Results:

  1. Dan Zack – $160,447
  2. Sumir Mathur – $99,153
  3. Brayden Gazlay – $65,217
  4. Jon Turner – $43,984
  5. Jesse Hampton – $30,437
  6. Jake Schwartz – $21,625

A lot line-up of tournaments is yet to be played in this poker season and you can keep checking GutshotMagazine.com for all latest updates.
