Christian Jeppsson wins WPT Online Championship Event!

It was an enthralling action-packed day at the World Poker Tour (WPT) Online Series with its spectacular $3,200 buy-in WPT Online Championship $5 million GTD event on partypoker. Viewers were at the edge of their seats, as someone would walk out million bucks richer! And it was Christian Jeppsson who turned his big stack into a prestigious WPT Online title after a heads-up deal with Russia’s Viktor Ustimov for a whopping $913,783 in prize money!

Making it the largest event in WPT Main Tour history, the four starting flights drew a massive field of 2,130 entries. This led to the creation of juicy $6.39 million in prize pool. Day 2 chip leader Sam Greenwood was eventually pushed down by Sweden’s Jeppsson who accumulated a towering stack of 17 million, leading the final 8 survivors.

As action got underway, the first casualty on the table was Pascal Teekens who earned $66k for 8^th position. Soon after the elimination of Greenwood and Pascal Hartman in 7^th and 6^th place, respectively, it was Nikolay Ponomarev exiting the table in 4^th place for $477k.

Eventually, heads-up began with the elimination of Jukka Koskela in 3^rd place. Both players agreed to a deal, with the Jeppsson holding 50 million chips and Ustimov with 34 million chips, leaving $10,000 in additional prize money, $15,000 seat in the WPT Tournament of Champions and the title. Ultimately, Ustimov settled in the runner-up position for $865k and Jeppsson became the first player to put his name on the WPT Champions Cup in an online event!
