Casino owner Leon Tsoukernik wins EPC High Roller

Leon Tsoukernik is a 44-year old Czech entrepreneur and casino owner, who sometimes likes to have a go at big tournaments around the world. He recently registered to the WSOP Big One for One Drop Event but forfeited a $50,000 deposit for skipping that prestigious tournament.

He then went over to Austria’s Casino Velden to play the EM European Poker Championship’s €25,750 Super High Roller. He would’ve been extremely happy with this decision as he shipped the event, outlasting 41 entries that generated a prize pool of slightly over a million euros.

27 unique players had registered to the tournament to go with 14 re-entries. Of these, quite a few were Tsoukernik’s itself, who fired 7 bullets on his way to shipping the tournament and registering his first live poker victory since December 2016. The owner of the Kings Casino, Rozvadov loves competing and would be delighted with this €370,000 (~$433k) win.

#4 on Czech Republic’s all-time money list, Tsoukernik has taken his live poker winnings past the $3 million mark with this latest victory. “I’m just a fan of this tournament. I have a very positive view on this casino which is an absolute jewel, a pearl, of the possibility how beautiful gaming could be in front of this fantastic lake,” he said in an interview after this win.

He played Germany’s Manig Loeser in heads-up, a poker player with loads of experience and over $7 million in live cashes. In the final hand, Loeser went all-in with nine-eight of spade and two spades opening up on the flop. He ended up missing his flush draw and Tsoukernik won with top pair. Antanas Guoga popularly known as Tony G, was also part of the final table, finishing in 4th.

Final results:

  1. Leon Tsoukernik – Czech Republic – €370,000
  2. Manig Loeser – Germany – €260,000
  3. Maxi Lehmanski – Germany – €185,000
  4. Tony G – Lithuania – €125,000
  5. Niki Jedlicka – Austria – €85,000
