Bobby Zhang Wins Baadshah Gaming Live Main Event

The second edition of the Baadshah Gaming Live kicked off on 5th April, on-board the Casino Pride in Goa. Aditya Sushant won the inaugural series Main Event in December last year and he started this series well too, winning the warm up event for INR 3.89 lakh, beating 139 entries to the title.

As the warm up event was wrapping up, the INR 30,000 buy-in Main Event had also begun, and a total of 187 entries were recorded in this event, which was won by Australia’s Bobby Zhang, for a handsome first-place prize of INR 17 lakh. A total of 18 players finished in the money, with a minimum payout of INR 50,000.

It was Zhang’s seventh career live poker win, but this would’ve been a special one for him, on his first ever trip to India. With over $600k in live poker winnings, he had a lot of experience coming into the biggest tournament of the April 2018 Baadshah Gaming Live. He is a 2014 MPC Baby Dragon event winner, and also finished 10th in the 2016 Aussie Millions Main Event for his highest live cash of $84k.

Some well-known Indian poker pros finished in the money – Vidwath Shetty (13th), Manoj Pentakota (11th), Amit Ajwani (8th), and others. At the end, it was Saurabh Arora who reached heads up against Zhang, after the latter knocked out Chiraag Patel in third place.

His already huge stack got bigger, and he finally took the title for INR 17 lakh, while Arora took home INR 12 lakh for second place. Arora went all-in holding Q-J, which was easily called by Zhang, who had A-9. The board ran 8-2-6-2-10, providing no further assistance to either player and giving Zhang the title with a 2-pair (higher kicker).

Final results:

  1. Bobby Zhang – 1700000
  2. Saurabh Arora – 1200000
  3. Chiraag Patel – 800000
  4. Ronak Agarwal – 500000
  5. Bibek Karki – 300000
  6. Chirag Sodha – 220000
  7. Pavan Jain – 160000
  8. Amit Ajwani – 125000

The INR 75k buy-in high roller event is also on, along with the heads-up event. Today, 9th April, is the final day of the Baadshah Gaming Live tournament series, and we will return with more updates on the final two events. Stay tuned to GutshotMagazine.com!
