Bansal, Sushant, Megalmani make Day 3 of Aussie Millions ME

There’s always live poker action taking place in different parts of the world throughout the year. Australia is one such place which is famous for poker during this time of the year, mainly for the Aussie Millions, an annual tournament series that takes place in the Crown Casino, Melbourne, attracting top talent from several countries.

A month back, we predicted this to be India’s best year at the Aussie Millions and we may very well be right about that. With plenty of side events completed and quite a few deep runs by Indian players, it’s now time for the prestigious 2019 Aussie Millions Main Event to take centre stage, with Day 2 just winding up.

Across the three starting flights and one level of registration on Day 2, a total of 822 entries registered to the AUD 10,600 Main Event, which turned out to be the largest ever field in the history of the Aussie Millions. From them, 430 players were in action today on Day 2, including four Indians in Raghav Bansal, Paawan Bansal, Aditya Sushant and Vinod Megalmani.

Raghav had the biggest stack among the Indians at the start of Day 2 but unfortunately, he busted before the end of the day’s play. However, all the other three progressed and will continue on Day 3 tomorrow at Crown Melbourne. They will join a total of 169 survivors who managed to get a bag at the end of Day 2.

Currently, the chip leader from them is Pim de Goede and if you remember well, this guy made headlines after he chopped the biggest ever partypoker online tournament last month for over $2 million in prize money. However, Aditya Sushant and Paawan Bansal have managed to get pretty decent stacks themselves, with 292,800 and 197,300 chips respectively.

These two have put themselves in a brilliant position to chip up and continue the dominance on Day 3, while Vinod Megalmani just managed to get through with a stack of around 30,000. Megalmani is a pretty serious player, and it’ll be interesting to see if he can manoeuvre himself to finishing in the money in this tournament.

A total of 88 players will receive a minimum pay-out of AUD 15,600 (~INR 7.99 Lakh) but our three Indian players will have their eyes on the bigger prizes on offer. The prize pool of AUD 8,220,000 has kept aside a whopping prize of AUD 1,850,000 (~INR 9.47 crore) for the eventual winner.
