The Asian Poker Tour (APT) has signed an exclusive two-year agreement with Resorts World Manila (RWM). This popular poker brand will host at least two big major APT festivals at Resorts World Manilla in 2022 and 2023. The agreement is an extension of the partnership between the two entities. Back in 2011, Asian Poker Tour hosted 25 events at RWM.
The APT live poker events for this year are scheduled to take place from 27th April to 8th May and then from 7th to 18th September 2022. Live poker events were cancelled between 2020 and 2021, due to COVID-19 pandemic. When asked about this partnership, APT CEO Jeff Mann said, “It’s just so good to be back. Like many live, large-scale events, we had to take a break for two years because of COVID-19 but we are already targeting at least eight major events in Asia this year. I am delighted – and it is appropriate – that we start on our post COVID-19 ‘build back stronger’ campaign with our long-term partner Resorts World Manila.”
RMW’s Executive Vice President and Chief Gaming and Marketing Officer, Hakan Dagtas said, “Before the pandemic, Resorts World Manila had plans in hand to establish the largest poker room in Asia. With the casino now returning to normal operations, those plans are firmly back on the drawing board. Our goal is to spearhead the initiative to ensure Manila becomes the poker capital of Asia.”
A majority of COVID-19 restrictions in the Philippines were recently dropped. This included the capacity limits in public venues across the National Capital Region which also includes Metro Manila. The restrictions were dropped from 1st March onwards amid falling COVID-19 case numbers.
