Arsh Grover ships Mega Freeze on SSS Day 1

Every once in a month or so, Spartan Poker hosts Spartan Super Series (SSS), an online tournament series that offers massive amounts in tournament guarantees including INR 3.8+ Crore in this particular edition which kicked off a few days back and is scheduled between 3-9 June 2019.

Yesterday was Day 1 of the series and a total of 5 of the 39 scheduled tournaments took place including the featured tournament SSS Mega Freeze INR 8 Lakh GTD. As the name suggests, the tournament is played in the freezeout format and this was the most popular tournament of the night, with a buy-in of INR 5,500.

Arsh Grover aka ‘BigggTymeR’ ended up victorious on the SSS opening day shipping the tournament and taking away the top prize of INR 1,92,000. Grover is a regular online grinder on Spartan Poker and other websites and last night, he beat ‘Pravirsingh’ in heads-up to take down the title.

Here’s a look at the other tournaments to take place on SSS Day 1:

SSS Event #1 INR 80k GTD

The series began on a smaller note, with a re-entry tournament with INR 220. The guarantee was passed and the top 31 players were paid out a min-cash of INR 770. However, the player to take away the biggest cash prize of the tournament was ‘PlayMyWay’, bagging INR 18,527. In heads-up, he hit a pair of Kings on the river to beat ‘shanu666’, the latter winning INR 12,474 for finishing second.

SSS Event #2 SSS Kick-Off INR 3 Lakh GTD

INR 1,100 was the buy-in to this kickoff tournament which obviously attracted some better-known players to the virtual felts. Spartan missed the guarantee ever so slightly in this tournament and the top 23 players were paid out a min-cash of INR 3,480. After a few hours of intense grinding, it was ‘Pathfinder’ who ended as champion, beating ‘Ashter’ in heads-up to win the tournament. Pathfinder bagged INR 69,750 while the runner-up won INR 47,250.

SSS Event #3 INR 2 Lakh GTD

Another re-entry tournament and here, Spartan Poker set the buy-in at INR 660. The guarantee was passed and a new prize pool of INR 2.44 Lakh was shared among the top 31 players with a min-cash of INR 2,148 each. From this, the biggest prize of INR 51,648 went to ‘Muffliato’. In heads-up, he hit a pair of Sevens on the flop to beat ‘superchor89’, the latter being awarded INR 34,774.

SSS Event #5 Hi-Fi INR 4 Lakh GTD

After finishing as runner-up in Event #2, ‘Ashter’ was not going to settle for anything less than the winner’s prize in the final tournament of the day which had a buy-in of INR 1,650. Being a popular tournament on Spartan, the guarantee was crushed and the new prize pool of INR 5.4 Lakh was shared among the top 31 players with a min-cash of 4,752. Ashter took away INR 1,14,210 after beating ‘motabhai’ in heads-up, who settled for the second-place prize of INR 76,896.
