APT VSOP 2022: India’s Jude Praveen Kumar Ships First Poker Title

India’s Jude Praveen Kumar realized his dream of winning a poker title at the ongoing Asian Poker Tour (APT) Hanoi 2022 at the Vietnam Series of Poker (VSOP). Kumar outsmarted a field of 57 runners at the Super Deep Stack Turbo event. The tournament paid the top 10 spots from a prize pool worth VN₫ 331,740,000 (~US$ 14,145). The buy-in of this APT Super Deep Stack Turbo event stood at VN₫ 6,600,000 (~US$ 280). Final Table Series 3.0 winner Ankit Wadhawan was the last player who got paid at the 10th spot for VN₫ 8,530,000.

The registration period of this event saw notable names like Zarvan Tumboli, Vamerdino Magsakay, David Erquiaga, and Tan Wah Meng taking seats. This only meant that the game was going to be no walk in the park for the winner. But as the event neared the bubble these names were out of the tournament leaving the last men standing to lock horns for the top prize worth VN₫ 98,190,000.

The average stack when the bubble round began was 17 Big Blinds (BB). Daniel Nguyen who was among the short stacks only had 5 BB at his disposal. But this player sure did change the game in his favour after doubling up twice; the second double up came from Quang Nguyen who was later left to bite dust after his rival Daniel knocked him out. Heads-up had Kumar locking horns with Nguyen. With a bigger stack Kumar dominated the game and eventually won the tournament when his A 2 trashed his opponent’s K 8 on a board of 5 10 3 A J
