APT Vietnam 2022: Zarvan Tumboli Makes His First Cash

The inaugural Asian Poker Tour (APT) Hanoi Loyal 2022 edition held its High Roller Single Day which drew in a crowd of 50 entries. The prize pool of the event reached VND 1,455,000,000 (~₹48,93,603) with Denis Pham taking home the lion’s share of the prize pool. He clinched the title and had a payday of VND 402,110,000 (~₹13,52,417).

The event paid the top nine places, out of which Zarvan Tumboli was the only Indian who made the money. He finished 8th and took home a prize money worth VND 46,050,000 (~₹1,54,880). This was also Tumboli’s first cash in the series. Earlier, he was the only Indian to make it to the Main Event Day 2 from the Day 1A flight. 

With the money bubble close approaching, Denis Pham and Dennis Ng had huge stacks at separate tables. Pham took his chance and knocked out the bubble boy after he raised the pot preflop. The flop showed 3 ♦ 7 ❤ 6 ♣ and Pham check-called a player’s jam with pocket tens. The opponent’s A ♦ Q ♦ hole cards did nothing for him on the turn of 2 ❤ . The river opened K ❤ which resulted in a bust. With this, the final nine players were moved to one table.

Next Masatumi Shimizu knocked out two players simultaneously with his pocket fours after he completed a set on the turn 4 ♠. This was unfortunate for Thananat Therdtakoonrat’s A ♠ J ♠ top pair and Zarvan Tumboli‘s K ♠ K ♦ which yielded no result on the river. The board was A ♣ 3 ♦ 8 ❤ 4 ♠ 5 ♦ . 

Once the game reached heads-up, Pham was ahead with 100 BB to Tran Duc Son’s 19 BB. After playing several hands, they struck a deal and Tran walked home in the runner-up position for VND 334,740,000 (~₹11,25,831).
