APT Taiwan to be hosted as scheduled

Poker players are much more exposed to the risk of coronavirus than anyone else due to constant travelling. The casino industry has already started to feel to the impact of the outbreak of deadly coronavirus epidemic which began in the Chinese city of Wuhan. The virus is spreading at a lightning speed outside China too.

It was only 4 days ago that Taiwan marked its first case of coronavirus. Multiple live poker tournaments around the Asia-Pacific region have been cancelled or shifted to a later date. After the postponement of Triton Poker High Roller Series and APL Da Nang, a couple of days back the Asian Poker Tour, one of the prestigious series in the Asian region confirmed the dates of APT Taiwan scheduled between 4 to 15 March 2020 at the Chinese Texas Hold’em Poker Club in Taipei City, Taiwan. Last year’s APT event fetched numerous international poker players.

“It goes without saying that our prime concern was the health and safety of all those to be involved with the event, but after looking at the situation on the ground; the measures being undertaken by the Taiwanese authorities, and the very strict daily health checks to be implemented by our host partner, Chinese Texas Hold’em Poker Club (CTP Club) throughout the duration of the event, we felt there was no need to cancel,” said the Chief Executive Officer of APT, Jeff Mann“For us though, the final decision was made by our customers – our poker players both local and International – they have voted overwhelmingly that APT Taiwan should proceed”.

Check out Asian Poker Tour’s tweet:

Last year’s inaugural APT Taiwan wrapped up successfully after recording a total of 3,251 entries, representing 28 nationalities participating in 23 separate tournaments and the Main Event drew 523 entries. Apart from locals participating in the live tour, APT events never fail to attract the Indian crowd.

Poker enthusiasts in the country eagerly wait for Asian tours and pounce on the casino tables in numbers. There are however, no guarantee, and this means we could see fewer international players this time. The major attraction of any series is the Main Event and APT announced that ME would comprise of two starting flights instead of three while there wouldn’t be any alteration to the rest 26 events on the schedule.

So far, APT Vietnam scheduled from 7 to 18 April and APT Philippines starting from 27 April to 14 May remains unaffected. For further updates on the same, keep reading GutshotMagazine.com and stay tuned!
