APT Taiwan: Jinho Hong triumphs the Championships Event

Asian Poker Tour (APT) Taiwan gave another opportunity to Jinho Hong who raced into the Championships Event. The Main Event runner-up emerged triumphantly here, lifting the APT Championships trophy, an APT Championships Ring along with an enormous sum of TWD 1.69 million at the Chinese Hold’em Poker Association in Taiwan.

The second featured tournament of the series drew 144 players, all chipping in TWD 49,500 as the entry fee, and slightly surpassing the guaranteed amount to create a prize pool of TWD 6.28 million. The 6-day long event was boiling with action with players from all around the Asian region and beyond.

The final day commenced with the chip leader from Day 2, Hong, who was in danger of elimination at 15 places. Before the time proved to be uneventful, Hong doubled up twice towards the end of the day. The final 8 were formed and returned to overcome the last hurdle.

The final hand arrived eventually, Hong (5d 7s) playing against the native player En Ching Wu (5d 7s) in heads-up. The board ran out 6c 8d Qd 4c Js, Wu bet and the former check-raised. Wu shoved and Hong held a straight and called to win the pot and become the newest APT Championships Event winner.

This time earning his career-best live cash of $55k, Hong’s total live earning is now over $120k. He is a familiar face in the recent APT tournaments. Other notable players include the 2019 APT Philippines Short Deck winner Seongsu Kong who fell at 8th place after entering with a short stack, the 2018 APT Philippines, NLH Single Day Event winner JC Sayo at 7th place, Day 1B chip leader Choy Wai Tak at 3rd position and so on.
