APT Online: Chen wins Championships Event; ‘sagarpupul’ 3rd in Event 221

Smashing previous record, the Asian Poker Tour (APT) Online Series 2nd Edition ended on successful note yesterday on Natural8. The 15-day long, highly exciting festival promised $10 million starting from 14 June. The event wrapped up with the second biggest attraction – APT Online Championships Event and Taiwan’s Yen Han Chen too home the $113,844 in prize money!

Championships Event $1 million GTD

Running between 25 to 28 June, the $800 buy-in Championships Event $1 million GTD pulled in 1,352 entries accumulating a prize pool of $1.02 million. The top 188 players ended up earning a share from the same. The final day saw 302 survivors battling to hunt down the prestigious title. Riding past the field was inaugural APT Mini Main Event winner Yen Han Chen aka ‘TurboPete’ after the players struck a three-way deal. The champion secured $113,844 for his victory and ‘SpicyChknSangy’ and ‘Donsky10’ finished in second and third position.

The champion sits 3rd in Taiwan’s all-time money list with over $2 million in total live earnings and over $494K in online winning. And for his win, he will receive the APT Championship Trophy and APT Championship Ring!

Short Deck Championships $30K GTD

Asian pro Lester Edoc aka ‘mon$terDad’ took down Short Deck Championship on Natural8. The $400 buy-in event pulled out 143 entrants and the top 20 finished in the money, taking home a share from the bigger prize pool of $53K. Edoc claimed APT trophy and $11,089 in prize money joining ‘TurboPete’ in the exclusive group of players with two wins.

Natural8 hosted Event 221: Progressive Bounty $50k GTD which clocked in 279 runners for $210. Generating a bigger prize pool of $55K top 47 players walked out with a min-cash. Taking home the lion’s chunk of prize money was ‘McDavid97’ who earned $15,941 along with $10,664 bounties. He defeated ‘Winna118’ in heads-up who also claimed $10,464 bounties. India’s ‘sagarpupul’ finished 3rd for $4K along with $1,556 bounties.

With a buy-in of $1,000 a total of 118 entries gathered to create $112,100 in prize pool. Out of this number, the top 17 players earned a min-cash. Thundering through the field to grab the largest chunk was ‘BoomShakaLaka’ who earned $24,447 in top prize after eliminating ‘escobarr’ in heads-up.
