APT Finale Championships Event: Eng Loong Choi leads Day 1A


The Asian Poker Tour (APT) Finale Taiwan is underway at Chinese Texas Hold’em Poker Association (CPT club) being the third stop in Taiwan this year, and also the final one. After marking an end to the Main Event, the series has now opened doors for the second featured tournament Championships Event which guarantees an enormous TWD 6 million and is scheduled to continue till 9 December.

Day 1A of the event pulled out a handful of 54 players with each one paying the TWD 49,500 buy-in. After arduous hours of battling and eliminating fellow competitors, only 35 players managed to bag and progress to Day 2. A familiar face in the APT circuit, Eng Loong Choi aka Wilson Choi amassed the largest stack of 218,300. The chip leader is closely followed by the native player Wang Tau Wei with 186,800 chips and in the third-place rests UK’s Neil Raine bagging 171,300 chips.

The Malaysian player, Choi was last seen in the APT Vietnam Main Event as a chip leader from Day 1C, ultimately finishing at third place for a massive VND 842 million. The promising player that he is, is now set to lead the 34 survivors to the battle on Day 2.

Other notable players in contention advancing to Day 2 include the 2019 Casino Niagara Recurring Deepstack winner Peter Chien with 117,500 chips, the 2019 APT Vietnam High Rollers Single Day champion Li Kwun NgaI Vincent with 91,600 chips, 2019 APT Korea Championships winner Graeme Siow with 56,900 chips and others.

  5. Guo Dong – 152,000
  6. Kelvin Beattie – 142,900

  10. Im Sangguk – 102,700

Day 1B of the Championships Event will enroll another set of enthusiasts and the registration will finally close on Day 2 after 10 levels.
