Ankur Sehgal missed Destiny last month, ships this time

Easily among the most popular tournaments on offer on Spartan Poker, Destiny INR 20 Lakh GTD usually attracts some of the best names in the business. Just looking at previous Destiny winners, you will realize that it’s always a known pro who manages to top this field and that speaks volumes about the competition you will witness every Wednesday night on Spartan.

This Wednesday, the tournament began at its scheduled time of 8pm and once again, there were several pros in the field. It turned out to be a grind which lasted for 7+ hours as the final blow was dealt in heads-up at 3:07am on Thursday morning, with Ankur Sehgal aka ‘Crimemastergogo’ emerging victorious.

Sehgal is a player who has slowly started accumulating a lot of wins online, while also registering a few deep runs in live tournaments in Goa too, having made the Final Table in two consecutive Deltin Poker Tournament (DPT) Main Events. However, this Destiny 10.0 victory has to be among one of his best victories on Spartan Poker so far.

While he has bigger victories on other platforms, Sehgal has missed out on closing out Destiny a few times including last month when he finished runner-up to Sriharsha Doddapaneni in the same tournament. This time however, he was second best to no one, winning and adding INR 4,94,143 to his poker bankroll.

The tournament has a buy-in of INR 5,500 and this latest edition saw participation from 411 entries, which broke the guarantee and created a new prize pool of INR 20.55 Lakh. This was eventually distributed among the top 40 finishers of the night, each taking away a minimum cash prize of INR 12,330.

Some known players to have made deep runs included Goonjan Mall aka ‘gmtesting’ (14th), recent SSS Main Event winner Vivek Bajaj aka ‘Kill Ivey’ (13th), Faiz Alam aka ‘DrStrange’ (6th), Sahil Mahboobani aka ‘HomelessOnWiFi’ (5th), and others. In heads-up, Sehgal beat ‘HugsForDrugs’ who won INR 3,89,506 for his runner-up finish.

Sehgal was naturally ecstatic about this victory and when Gutshot contacted him regarding the same, he said, “I’ve final tabled destiny multiple times with a couple of second-place finishes including one last month. Feels great to finally take it down!” For more updates on the top poker promotions in India, stay tuned to GutshotMagazine.com.
