Anand Aces His Game

At Level 5 with blinds 300/500, Anand Thakur raised 1,000 to a limp of 500 with his Pocket Rockets. His raise was challenged by Praneet Agarwal who put 3,500 into the pot as he had Cowboys. Thakur then called the raise and the flop opened to T 6 6 and gave both players two pairs. Thakur with his rockets, was still in the lead to win the pot and 3-bet 6,000 which was raised to 17,000 by Agarwal. Holding a premium hand made it difficult for Agarwal to fold when Thakur went all-in with the remaining 38,900. That proved costly for Agarwal as the turn and river brought T and Q respectively which did not help him. The massive pot went to Thakur who hit two pairs (AA, TT)  and must be pleased with himself for playing his cards right. We sympathize with Praneet.

  • Thakur: A A
  • Agarwal: K K
  • Board: T 6 6 T Q
