Amod Kelkar among title winners on SSS Day 2


Here it is once again, the Spartan Super Series (SSS), lined up with another set of tournaments awarding its worthy winners with an enormous sum of prize money. The series kicked in yesterday and will be on till 27 October only on Spartan Poker. The previous night concluded Day 2 of the same and here is a complete summary…

SSS Event #7 INR 100k GTD

The first tournament of the day attracted a moderate field of 455 players, each chipping in INR 330 buy-in. The guarantee surpassed to create a prize pool of INR 1.36 Lakhs to be shared among the top 39 places, each receiving a minimum paycheck of INR 1,201. The star of the night was ‘HIV’ who emerged victoriously after sending his opponent ‘Flexicord’ to the runner-up position.

In Level #30 and blinds at 4,500/9,000 ante 900, ‘HIV’ (Th Ts) entered with the largest stack of 926k playing against ‘Flexicord’ (6s 2s) with 665k chips. Flop 5h 8h 6c, the latter checks while the former bets 55k. Unsure about his card, ‘Flexicord’ checks again while ‘HIV’ holding a stronger hand makes the most of the situation and bets 167k with both players then putting their entire stack in the middle. Ace on the river made no difference for ‘Flexicord’ and ‘HIV’ holding a middle pair of pocket tens wins the tournament and collects from the pot.

SSS Event #8 Afternoon Showdown INR 4 Lakhs GTD

The afternoon event began and buy-in of INR 2,200 with a decent number of 205 entries registering. A prize pool of INR 4,10,000 was drawn to be shared among the top 17 players, receiving a payout of min-cash INR 6,437. The champion of the night was ‘madnutscrazy’ who beat Shawn Chatterton aka ‘N00b N00b’, a well-known player on Spartan Poker.

In the final hand, 4 players enter with ‘madnutscrazy’ carrying the largest stack won the competition as each settled for a deal. It was only yesterday that the winner excelled the SSS Day 1 Event #4, and this win added another feather to his poker cap. He has been doing well in recent months.

SSS Event #9 Afternoon Hi-Fi INR 3 Lakhs GTD

The afternoon Hi-Fi registered a total number of 346 players, entering for a buy-in of INR 1,100. The guaranteed amount was slightly crushed, and a prize pool of INR 3,46,000 was drawn to be shared among the top 27 players, each receiving a minimum amount of INR 3,110. The tournament saw the rise of Amod Kelkar aka ‘Amod’ winning the competition and adding a healthy addition to his poker bankroll.

In the final hand of the tournament, 3 players enter with Kelkar amassing the largest stack and 2 out 3-fold in pre-flop. The players eventually settle for a deal and the largest prize money was awarded to Kelkar for topping the event.

SSS Event #10 INR 1.5 Lakhs GTD

Event #10 registered 217 players entering for a buy-in of INR 880. A prize pool of INR 1.73 Lakhs was drawn to be shared among the top 17 players. The champion ‘NikolaTesla’ beat ‘Jhonnymaddog’ in heads-up and to bag this title and walk away with first-place prize money. 

SSS Event #11 Mega Stack INR 20 Lakhs GTD

The penultimate tournament of the day was the biggest one. Mega Stack is a featured tournament taking place every Tuesday, attracting a massive field of 809 entries to the virtual felts. Overcoming the strength and claiming the first-place cash prize was ‘CrownUpJr’ who beat ‘vikrambatra’ in heads-up and placing the latter on the runner-up position.

SSS Event #12 Hi-Fi INR 8 Lakhs GTD

Day 2 wrapped up with the last event being Hi-Fi, enticing a total number of 535 players, each paying a buy-in of INR 1,650. The final event saw the prize pool shared among the top 45 places receiving a min-cash of INR 4,413. The tournament was excelled by ‘GHOSTF@CE’ who grabbed the title and defeated ‘The Rock nd RoLLa’ who settled for the runner-up position.

In Level #43 and blind at 18,000/36,000 ante 4,500, ‘GHOSTF@CE’ (9h 5d) with 2.72 million chips playing against ‘The Rock nd RoLLa’ (Td Jc) with 1.28 million chips. Flop 9s 6d Jh, the latter checks while the former puts 36k bet and gets a call from the opponent. Turn 7d made no difference and both players slow-playing check again. With Th on the river, ‘GHOSTF@CE’ immediately folds and ‘The Rock nd RoLLa’ collects from the main pot. Eventually, it was the former who bagged the title carrying a larger stack and walked out with a handsome first-place prize money.
