Alexander Petersen Wins EPT Barcelona €10K PLO Event

The festivities continue at Casino Barcelona, with the European Poker Tour’s (EPT) latest stop in Barcelona currently taking place. We’re down to the last few days of play and quite a few winners are being crowned as the days go by. The most recent tournament to come to an end at EPT Barcelona was the €10K PLO High Roller, where we reported Chris Dowling leading the final 17 players yesterday.

These survivors then came out to battle it out for the trophy and ultimately, it was Denmark’s Alexander Petersen who shipped the tournament, after being second in the chip lead after Day 1. The player seems to love the PLO format, having shipped a few PLO tournaments in the past, while also being a regular on the PLO cash tables.

Here, he beat some of the best players in the circuit, taking away the top prize of €213,400 (~INR 1.77 crore) for this effort, while also taking his live poker earnings to around $1.5 million. He beat Hong Kong’s Anson Tsang in heads-up, after a final table that saw players from seven different countries.

His biggest career live cash also came in a PLO event, but that was his last live cash for three years when he shipped the $10,000 PLO Championship for $927,655 at the 2015 WSOP. “I play heads-up PLO cash for a living and you have a few chips more,” he told Tsang while asking him about the possibility of a deal, just a few hands into heads-up. However, he would’ve been happy he didn’t choose to make a deal, as he had more money to himself after the win.
