Aditya Sushant survives Day 1A of APT Finale Main Event

For Asian poker pros, this is the most exciting time of the year, with the Asian Poker Tour (APT) hosting its final stop of the year between 27 November to 6 December 2018. The APT Finale Manila 2018 is being hosted at Resorts World Manila, Philippines, and after a few side events concluding, the Main Event has kicked off.

The prestigious tournament has a buy-in of PHP 55,000 (~INR 73k) and a couple of starting flights were scheduled, with Day 1A concluding yesterday and Day 1B scheduled for later today. On the first flight, a total of 95 runners had entered the tournament and from them, 46 players survived the 8 levels of play and bagged their chips to resume on Day 2.

The APT Finale Philippines 2018 Main Event PHP 10 Million GTD also attracted an Indian contingent. At the end of Day 1A, it was none other than India’s WSOP gold bracelet winner Aditya Sushant who found himself a bag to progress to Day 2. Sushant has countless achievements in Indian poker as well as a few overseas, and here he’ll be looking to add to that tally.

From the list of survivors, Sushant bagged 70,600 in chips and was the lone Indian representative to survive this first flight of the Main Event. With over half a million dollars in live poker tournament earnings so far, Sushant will be in search of another big live score. However, Day 1B will be needing a bigger field if the PHP 10 million guarantee needs to be beaten.

Currently, it’s Korean player Chul Ho Bae who is in the chip lead with 133,400 in chips, while Sushant rounds up the top ten chip leaders. Australia’s Bobby Zhang is next in the lead, with a stack of 106,500 and this guy is also well known in the Asian circuit, with over $700k in live earnings and also a title in India, winning the April 2018 edition of the Baadshah Live Main Event in Goa.

APT’s last live stop saw Japan’s Testsuya Tsuchikawa shipping the Main Event and this defending champion is also in the mix currently, with 63,000 in chips. Day 1B begins later today and players can buy-in for the same amount of PHP 55,000 and also get insured on the bubble with APT’s Main Event Bubble Protection Incentive.

Top 10 current chip counts:

  1. Chul Ho Bae – 133,400
