Aditya Agarwal headlines WSOP Monster Stack Event

The entire Indian poker industry will be backing Aditya Agarwal when he heads out tomorrow to play Day 3 of Event #48: $1,500 NLHE Monster Stack. Of the original 6,260 entries, several Indians made it to Day 2 and PokerStars Team Pro, Agarwal, was one of them.

While a couple of Indian players crashed out early on Day 2, Vivek Rughani and Apoorva Goel finished in the money, busting in 436th and 473rd positions respectively. Now, 259 survivors will progress, as players bagged up their chips and will continue the tournament on Day 3 tomorrow.

From these survivors, Agarwal holds one of the top chip stacks, with over a million chips, and he will be hoping to continue this hot run tomorrow. Abhinav Iyer is also another Indian survivor with 44,400 in chips, with the current pay-out for #259 at $5,140. Indian origin Nipun Java is also among the mix, in the hunt for his 3rd WSOP bracelet; he has 101,000 in chips at the end of Day 2.

Agarwal has nearly $1 million in live poker cashes and he will be looking to cross that milestone in this Monster Stack tournament, where a whopping $1,037,451 has been kept aside for the winner. If he manages to stay among the chip leaders tomorrow as well, he may certainly start thinking about that maiden WSOP bracelet.

Top 10 chip counts:

  1. Steve Billirakis – 1,399,000
  2. James Stewart – 1,220,000
  3. Raul Manzanares Lozano – 1,176,000
  4. David Neiman – 1,160,000
  5. Aditya Agarwal – 1,100,000
  6. Jimmy Guerrero – 940,000
  7. Kyle Chang – 906,000
  8. Shyam Srinivasan – 800,000
  9. Kurt Jewell – 768,000
  10. Shane Howeth – 691,000

Agarwal is not too far away from the current chip leader Billirakis, who has won two WSOP bracelets in the past. Agarwal already has five previous cashes in WSOP 2018 and this event will be his 6th cash, regardless of what position he finishes at.
