India’s first solo World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet winner Abhinav Iyer, who is currently in Sin City, grinding at the World Poker Tour (WPT) World Championship 2022. The player was playing the WPT World Championship Day 1A, and has qualified to Day 2 of the $10,400 buy-in event.
The pro shared the news via an Instagram story. He shared a picture of his bag of chips and captioned it with the words “Day 2 of the $10,400 WPT World Championship Main. Restart on Thursday at 5BB. Leggooo.” (sic)
Iyer will be progressing to Day 2 with 279,000 chips in his kitty. The event has a buy-in of $10,400, out of which $9,800 will go into the main prize pool, $400 would be the entry fee, while $200 would go into the staff fee. Players get a starting stack of 100,000 in tournament chips. The event is said to have a guarantee of $15,000,000.
Abhinav Iyer became the first Indian player to win the coveted WSOP bracelet in a solo event after shipping the $1,500 No Limit Hold’em – The Closer at 2019 WSOP. He earned a top prize of $565,346, along with the WSOP bracelet. He was last seen grinding at the Poker Dream Vietnam 2022 in Hoi An, Vietnam, in October 2022. He had four cashes at the series, with the highest being $15,304 he pocketed after finishing seventh at the VND57,000,000 + 3,000,000 No Limit Hold’em High Roller event.
Apart from Iyer, Spartan Poker pro Zarvan Tumboli is also grinding at the series in Wynn Las Vegas. Tumboli recently shared a picture and a video with poker legend Scotty Ngyuen. We asked Tumboli about the whole vibe in Las Vegas with the series going on, to which he replied saying, “The series is phenomenal. It has a great turnout, and the vibe is electric and mind-blowing.”
