Today was a special day for Abhinav Iyer as he celebrated his 28th birthday with his poker buddies in the beautiful country of the Philippines. The World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet winner was nothing but smiles and laughter in the Instagram stories shared by his friends from the poker community. He can be seen chilling with well-known players like Kanchan Sharma, Shardul Parthasarathi, ankit Wadhawan, Laksh Pal Singh, Dhaval Mudgal, Gaurav Sood, and more.

Well, Iyer did not take a flight to Manila, Philippines just to celebrate his birthday, he’s actually grinding in the Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) Manila 2022 series. The PokerStars LIVE series started on 2nd August and will run till 7th August. Iyer’s birthday just happens to fall within the series’ timeframe and is fortunate to have his friends beside him to party the night away.

Born in state of Tamil Nadu, Iyer is one of the top poker players in India. Back in WSOP 2019, Iyer shipped the $1,500 – The Closer event for a whopping $565,346 and became the third Indian to win a WSOP bracelet. He is also the only Indian to win a solo WSOP event. He was introduced to poker through the app Zynga Poker which piqued his interest in the game. The poker pro is looked up to by many upcoming poker players who want to follow in his shoes. He also has shipped multiple live and online poker titles and currently ranks 4th in the India all-time money list (Hendon Mob).
After he made history in WSOP, Iyer was soon featured on the cover of Gutshot Magazine’s January 2020 edition. He delves into his life as a poker player and talks about the sweet memories and gruelling challenges that he had to go through to be where he is.
