The Indian Poker Series (TIPS) is currently underway at Kings Casino, Rozvadov, in its second edition at the moment. There are plenty of side events taking place, and yesterday was a great day for the Indian contingent at the series, at the Main Event as well as other events. Ankit Kapoor shipped the Turbo PLO Event and that was one major highlight of the day.
Apart from that event, two starting flights of the €350 Main Event also took place, with hundreds of players participating. On Day 1D, a total of 249 entries registered to the tournament, followed by another 337 entries in Day 1E, taking the total count to a vast field of 1,191 entries, including 573 unique players.
On Day 1D, five Indians managed to find a bag by the end of the flight, including Manish Goenka, Gaurav Gala and Sameer Tavanandi, all of whom are widely known in the Indian live poker circuit. Goenka has the biggest stack of 344,000 among them, followed by Gala with 282,000 and Tavanandi with 276,000 chips.
Two others who progressed with Jaydeep Dawer (121,000) and Avinash Tauro (99,000), and they will be looking to chip up when they continue on Day 2, but that doesn’t begin until one more flight Day 1F Turbo gets done. While the Israeli participation was pretty high, it was Germany’s Jens Schoenrock who ended with the chip lead, bagging 497,000 chips.
The action then went on to Day 1E, where intense poker ended with Austria’s Sandro Zarriello emerging as the chip leader, with 496,000 chips. The three Indians to survive the flight included Shreyas Voodari (298,000), Vineet Kumar (214,000) and Loveleen Singh (118,000).
The action will resume on Day 2 soon and we at GutshotMagazine.com will be closely following the progress of our Indian players, so stay tuned for all latest updates.
