8 Indians in Day 2 of the WPT Cambodia Main Event!

It’s a very busy time for poker players in Cambodia at the moment with the inaugural WPT Cambodia series taking place at Phnom Penh right now. It’s been a good series for Indian players so far, and 8 of them will be in action when Day 2 of the WPT Cambodia Main Event takes off today at the poker room in NagaWorld.

The Main Event kicked off on 21 November and we witnessed good participation across the three starting days, including 188 entries on Day 1A, 216 entries on Day 1B, and most recently, an enormous field of 346 entries on Day 1C. This total of 750 entries became a record for the country of Cambodia.

“It is the biggest event ever hosted in Cambodia, it is the biggest open WPT event in Asia-Pacific. Thank you players for all your support. Thank you to NagaWorld and our partner Connaissance,” said WPT Live Events Specialist, Danny McDonagh about this new Cambodia record.

From this field, only 148 players are still in play at NagaWorld. With the entry set at $1,100, the Main Event prize pool went all the way up to $727,500, which will be distributed to only the top 94 players, so we expect the money bubble to be burst early on Day 2. The champion of the WPT Cambodia Main Event will pocket a handsome amount of $131,460!

Indians in play:

  1. Abhinav Iyer – 367,000
  2. Kartik Ved – 218,000
  3. Romit Advani – 161,000
  4. Raju Jaruplavath – 125,000
  5. Meherzad Munsaf – 70,000
  6. Madhav Gupta – 70,000
  7. Dhaval Mudgal – 69,000
  8. Paawan Bansal – 33,000

The current average stack is at around 152k so we have three Indians above the average at the moment. China’s Jingjing Ke will be the chip leader going into Day 2 with a massive stack of 486,000 chips, while Indian WSOP bracelet winner Abhinav Iyer is among the top 10 stacks at the moment.
