5 Indians progress to Day 2 of WSOPE Opener; Litvinyuk leads


King’s Casino, Rozvadov is hosting some of the greatest tournaments this October. Yesterday wrapped up Day 1B of WSOPE Event #1: €350 Opener No-Limit Hold’em. The initial day attracted 399 players followed by Day 1B pulling 612 entries, coming down to 1,011 hopefuls, each paying €350 buy-in.

As the event progressed, yesterday saw 160 hopefuls hitting the tables on the next day. Amassing the largest stack on Day 1B was Russia’s Elena Litvinyuk with 385,500 chips, claiming top honours on the day.

Litvinyuk with $103,316 in total live earnings, cashed in five WSOP events followed by Daniel Braude with 357,000 chips, the 2016 Eureka King’s Local Championship winner Krzysztof Jaguscik with 310,000 chips, WSOP International Circuit Freezeout winner Stanislav Koleno with 281,000 chips, and so on.

Day 1B top 10 chip counts:

  1. Elena Litvinyuk – 385,500
  2. Daniel Braude – 357,500
  3. Krzysztof Jaguscik – 310,000
  4. Jonathan Wong – 302,500
  5. Thai Ha – 292,500
  6. Stanislav Koleno – 281,000
  7. Damian Siewert – 276,000
  8. Erik Cajelais – 274,000
  9. Konstantin Generalov – 262,000
  10. Timur Margolin – 246,000

The prestigious WSOPE event did not fail to attract Indian contenders. Some of the well-known players progressing to Day 2 include Manish Goenka bagging 167,500 chips, Ankit Ahuja with 103,000, Hardit Singh with 101,500 chips, Ankur Gupta with 75,500 chips and Ghanshyam Harshadkumar Jogi with 21,300 chips.

Day 2 will witness a fierce competition with only 3 bracelet winners progressing, including one-time bracelet winner Erik Cajelais, winner of 2 bracelets Timur Margolin and Robert Campbell. Other notables who took their chance but couldn’t progress include 6 bracelets winner Daniel Negreanu, and 15 bracelets winner Phil Hellmuth.

Although Litvinyuk topped the field on Day 1B but Day 2 will kick-in with the previous day chip leader Renat Bohdanov who bagged 525,000 chips. Day 2 starts today (15 October) at 2 pm local time.
